The Dee Valley branch was established in Summer 2023 following a CAMRA National Executive decision to restructure branches that crossed national borders; the Dee Valley branch was created from what was the South Clwyd area of the Chester and South Clwyd branch.

The inaugural meeting was held on 23rd August 2023 at the Bridge End Inn, Ruabon and Alan Roberts was nominated and accepted as the first chair of the new branch.
